What is BLC (Backlight Compensation)?
Glossary DefinitionBacklight Compensation (BLC) is a setting on many security cameras that allows the camera to adjust its exposure settings to compensate for strong backlight in a scene. The operator (or installer) can often use this feature to decide which areas of a scene should be properly exposed when not all areas of said scene can be exposed correctly, rather than letting the camera adjust that scene’s exposure automatically. This helps to maintain detail in areas of the image that might otherwise be overexposed or washed out due to the presence of a strong light source in the background, producing clearer, more detailed images in challenging lighting conditions.
